Abstract
In this report, a necrotizing fasciitis case caused by community-acquired methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (CA-MRSA), which is rarely observed in our country, is presented. In this necrotizing fasciitis case developing from a carbuncle, large debridement was performed and CA-MRSA was isolated in the deep tissue culture. MRSA isolate from the case was found Panton-Valentine leukocidin-positive and it was classified as staphylococcal cassette chromosome mec type IV (SCCmecIV). Based on these results, it was thought that the strain was likely to be CA-MRSA. Consequently, the likelihood of CA-MRSA infections which do not create a threat for our country yet, has increased owing to the more convenient means of travelling and easy transportation.
