Abstract
Arcanobacterium haemolyticum, a well-defined pathogen of pharyngitis in humans, is also isolated from ulcerative skin infections with a chronic course. Despite of its occurrence in 0.3 to 2% of the cases with pharyngitis, A. haemolyticum has never been isolated before as a causative agent of soft tissue infection in Turkey. We present the first case of diabetic foot infection caused by A. haemolyticum. Increasing awareness in clinical microbiology laboratories will likely allow us to understand the importance of these bacteria in soft tissue infections. Klimik Dergisi 2017; 30(1): 41-4.
