Abstract
Actinomycosis is an uncommon suppurative infection. The Actinomyces species can cause opportunistic infections due to the disruption of the mucosal surface of the genital system although they are normal inhabitants of this surface. Actinomycosis of the greater omentum, though rare, should be included in the differential diagnosis of an omental mass, especially in patients with fever and leukocytosis. It can often be mistaken for a malignant tumor and presents a diagnostic dilemma. We report a case of omental actinomycosis with abdominal wall invasion, definitely diagnosed after surgery, which initially presented as a tumor.
