Abstract
Urinary Schistosomiasis is a parasitic disease caused by Schistosoma haematobium. The clinical picture is manifested by the accumulation of parasite eggs and the formation of granuloma and fibrous tissue around them. A 20-year-old male patient of Malian nationality applied to the infectious diseases’ outpatient clinic of our hospital with a complaint of bleeding in the urine, which he had observed intermittently for the last year. Parasitic infiltration was detected in the lamina propria in the biopsy material and was reported as compatible with schistosomiasis. During differential diagnosis, individuals exhibiting hematuria during or after travel to endemic regions should be investigated for urinary schistosomiasis.
