Abstract
Objective: Coinfections with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infections and hepatitis B virus (HBV) and/or hepatitis C virus (HCV) are frequent because of common transmission route. It was aimed to investigate the seroprevalence of HBV and HCV infections in HIV-infected cases.
Methods: In this study, 68 HIV-infected patients who were admitted to Kanuni Sultan Süleyman Training and Research Hospital between January 2015 and May 2017 were evaluated, retrospectively.
Results: In this study, 4 (5.9%) cases with HBV infection and 3 (4.4%) cases with HCV infection were detected.
Conclusions: Coinfection with HBV and HCV is an important problem in HIV-infected patients. All patients with HIV infection should be screened for HBV and HCV.
