Abstract
Actinomycosis is a disease characterized by abscess formation, tissue fibrosis and drained sinus infections usually caused by Actinomyces israelii. Actinomycosis infections often involve cervicofacial, thoracic, abdominopelvic areas and central nervous system. Primary actinomycosis of either breast or scrotum is very rare. Aged 26 and 39 respectively, two actinomycosis patients who were followed with mass, in breast accompanied by abscess in the former and in scrotum in the latter, are discussed in this article. With each of the patients, initial clinical and imaging results were both evaluated as findings of malignancy but actinomycosis was the final diagnosis in the histopathological evaluation. Scrotal actinomycosis patient had been treated by combined medical and surgical approach, while breast actinomycosis patient had received medical treatment only. After successful treatment, no relapse was observed in both patients after one-year of follow up period.
